Creative Ballet: These classes are designed to introduce young children to movement. We will do dance activities, games, movement stories, and some basic ballet technique. It is class for your little one to dress up and dance! Ages: 5&6 years old Primary 1-3 plus Creative Movement:This class will focus on dance activities that explore ballet, creativity, and contemporary dance. We will work solo, with partners, trios, and small groups for building skills in dance technique and choreography. This class is a great class to build movement vocabulary and coordination. Ages: Primary 1& 2 * 7-8 years old. Primary 3 * 7-10 years old.
Ballet Grade/Levels 1-4:Teacher Approved.This class will be a traditional ballet class of barre, center, and combinations across the floor. We follow the Cecchetti methodology of ballet. These classes are designed to provide the technical building blocks that create strong, artistic, and disciplined dancers. We are working towards Cecchetti exams. These exams serve the purpose of giving the student a goal, to strive for, of mastering their ballet skills. Grade 1: Ages * 9-12 Grade 2: Ages * Upon completion of grade 1 Grade 3/4: Ages*Upon completion of grade 2 or teacher approved.
Choreography/Rehearsals: This class is designed for the grade 2 and above dancers. We will explore creating dances for the winter and spring performances. Teacher permission.
Adult Ballet: For adults that have some dance experience and would like to learn more ballet and have a great workout.
Solos: Teacher Approval. This class is only open to those children that are also taking a ballet technique class. Each child will choose a song (with approval of teacher). Each dancer will choreograph a solo dance with input from the teacher and other dancers of 1 minute duration. We will have an informal recital on the last day of the session to present each dancer's piece.
