Class Descriptions: www.cecchetti.org Creative Ballet: Ages 5-6 This class is an introduction to movement based on the teachings of Anne Green Gilbert and the Creative Dance Center. We explore movement concepts through games, shapes, partner and group work, and different types of music. Primary Ballet: Ages 7-8 This class is designed to incorporate fundamental ballet concepts into a class of movement, creativity, games, and group interaction. The goal of the class is to develop a desire to learn ballet and to create friendships within a peer group. Level 1 Ballet : Ages 8 and older (or special permission by teacher). This class begins the process of learning the craft and discipline of ballet. We follow the Cecchetti methodology of teaching ballet technique. We also explore beginning choreography concepts, to start to find their own movement voice. Level 2 Ballet : This class is a unique and diverse class with multiple ages. We study advanced Grade 2 Cecchetti methodology, and beginning pointe work for dancers that have already completed Grade 1 and Grade 2. It offers the chance for advanced dancers to use the class for pointe work and fine tuning of technique. It also offers the younger dancers an opportunity to be challenged and inspired by the older dancers. Level 3 plus Ballet : These classes will focus on Cecchetti grade 3 & 4 plus advanced non- syllabus ballet styles. We will also incorporate pointe work into these classes for those dancers that are taking the required ballet classes. Variations, Repertoire, and Choreography: We will continue to learn variations and repertoire from classical ballets. These variations will be performed in the winter demonstration in addition to dancers choreographing duets. Open to Level 3 plus dancers.
